Where the data comes from.

FinPull is an all-in-one trading dashboard and market-data pipeline for humans and AI agents. Every feed is labeled with its true latency and its commercial-use boundary. Here's the full picture, source by source.

What is genuinely live, and what is free

Crypto exchanges like Binance publish public WebSockets with genuine tick-by-tick data. Real-time tick data for stocks, forex, and futures is licensed and has a production cost at the source, so the free default is honest instead of pretending: Yahoo Finance for delayed equities and EOD futures, Yahoo RSS for headlines, and the ForexFactory feed for the calendar. Every free fallback is labeled with its source and delay. Set a Finnhub key for richer news/calendar data or a Polygon.io key for licensed real-time equities.

Display data vs. commercial data

Free display access is not the same as a dataset license. Yahoo-sourced stocks and futures remain free-beta display feeds: we do not sell them as a data product, and we do not grant redistribution or AI-training rights for them. Paid workflows and dataset exports are enabled only for symbols whose recorded rights allow commercial use, redistribution, and AI training. Today that is the Binance crypto catalog, subject to Binance terms. Forex reference rates are display-only and cannot be paper-traded.

When a symbol is not licensed for a paid or export surface, the API returns 402 for paid access and 403 for dataset export instead of silently serving it.

The honesty rule

The latency label is set by the adapter that owns the source — never guessed at the display layer.

The label travels with every tick in the unified data contract, so a chart can never claim to be live when it isn't.

If a feed drops or slows down, the label and stream state update to reflect reality.

Free feeds (Yahoo Finance, Yahoo RSS, ForexFactory) need no key; licensed real-time equities (Polygon.io) and richer Finnhub news are labeled as soon as a key is configured.

Trading on delayed data

Delayed quotes mean an alert or a chart can be several minutes behind the live tape — a stock alert may fire after the price actually crossed your level. Always verify prices with your broker or exchange before acting. See the Risk Disclosure for the full picture.
